Theodore Constant
After training in gymnastics for eight years in Romania, Theodore Constant begins ballet at the age of twelve, after an invitation to join "Ecole Superieure de Ballet du Quebec", the school of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, in Montreal, Canada. His principal ballet teacher is Mr. Daniel Seillier, of the Paris Opera Ballet.
He later attends the Collège du Vieux Montréal.
His professional career starts at age 17 with "Les Grands Ballets Canadiens" in Montréal, Canada. Eager to work with a wider variety of choreographers, he leaves for Europe where he dances with German State Opera Houses in Dusseldorf, Berlin, and Leipzig, and tours as Guest Artist Russia, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Romania, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, the United States, and Japan.
Throughout his career, Theodore Constant performs as Soloist and Principal dancer in a large repertoire of classical and contemporary ballets in which roles are created for him.
He closely works with choreographers such as Maurice Béjart, Roland Petit, Uwe Scholz, Heinz Spoerli, Patrice Bart, Jorma Uotinen, and Hans van Manen among others.
As choreographer, his classical, neoclassical and contemporary works have been performed in Europe, Canada and the United States.
He holds dance-teacher Diplomas from Germany and the United Kingdom, and speaks fluently French, German, English, and Romanian.
He is guest Ballet Master Internationally: Semperoper Dresden - Germany, Basel Ballet - Switserland, Festival Ballet Providence - USA, Vienna State Opera Ballet Academy & Youth Company - Austria, Joffrey Ballet School, Manhattan Youth Ballet, Kaatsbaan International Dance Center - USA, National Ballet - Romania, John Cranko Ballet Academy Stuttgart, State Ballet School Berlin - Germany, Dance Academy Zurich - Switzerland, National Dance Conservatory Lisbon - Portugal, IBC Youth America Grand Prix Paris & New York, and many more.
Mr. Constant's students have joined professional dance Companies worldwide: Vienna State Opera Ballet - Austria, The Royal Ballet - United Kingdom, National Opera Ballet Bucharest - Romania, Netherlands Dance Theatre - Holland, Cullberg Ballet - Sweden, Nuremberg Ballet - Germany, Sacramento Ballet - USA, etc., and have received numerous International awards, such as the Gold Medal, YAGP New York Finals, Outstanding Artistry Award YAGP NY Finals, and Prix de Lausanne among others.
He has been invited by the Romanian Parliament to the International Symposium for the Arts and Culture, and is adjudicator for International Ballet Competitions.
Mr. Constant has been Artistic Adviser with the National Ballet Theatre in Romania (1998-99), Artistic Director and Choreographer with the Cologne Dance Academy in Germany (1999-03), Artistic Director and Choreographer with the OSC Dance Company in Canada (2003-06), Ballet Director and Choreographer with the Northern California Dance Conservatory in the United States (2006-14), Founder, Artistic Director and Choreographer with the Theodore Constant - Dance Academy (since 2014), and Ballet Master, Teacher and Choreographer with the Vienna State Opera Ballet Academy (2015-2016). He is Founder and Artistic Director of the TCDA - International Ballet Festival.
